About Us

The Progressive Agriculture Safety Day® (PAF Safety Day) program, which is recognized as the largest rural safety and health education program for children in North America, provides education, training, and resources to make farm, ranch, and rural life safer and healthier for all children, their families, and their communities.

Since the inception of the Program in 1995, more than 2 million individuals have been reached in 45 states, two territories, and nine Canadian provinces.

What We Do

Our History

  • The Progressive Farmer magazine profiled nearly 100 farm fatalities, many of whom were children, including the letter "Just Say No, Please Say No" written by a father about his son, which generated more letters and calls than any other in its history. In result, the Magazine began devoting space in every issue to farm safety and health topics.

  • Jack Odle, Progressive Farmer magazine editor, began the Progressive Farmer Farm Safety Day Camp program as an additional effort to prevent farm injuries and deaths. The Magazine sponsored 19 safety day camps across the South and Midwest, reaching more than 2,800 participants and volunteers.

  • The Progressive Farmer Farm Safety Day Camp program became as a stand-alone program, with ownership and governance shifting from the Progressive Farmer Foundation to its successor, the Progressive Agriculture Foundation with expansion into Canada.

  • The name of the program was officially changed to the Progressive Agriculture Safety Day® program and expanded to the American Samoa.

  • The Progressive Agriculture Safety Day program planning manual and curriculum were translated to French.

  • The Progressive Agriculture Safety Day program reached its one-millionth individual.

  • The Progressive Agriculture Safety Day program became licensed to be delivered in Argentina and Uruguay with several sections of the planning manual and curriculum translated to Spanish.

  • The Progressive Agriculture Safety Day program became licensed in Brazil with sections of the planning manual and curriculum translated to Portuguese.

  • The Progressive Agriculture Foundation program team developed and published more than 25 digital resources focused on how to build and use safety props to teach a hands-on activity or demonstration.

  • The Progressive Agriculture Safety Day® program is named the recipient of the National Safety Council's Green Cross Safety Advocate Award.

  • The Progressive Agriculture Safety Day program introduced Daily Learning Drops and virtual Progressive Agriculture Safety Day resources to continue youth safety and health education during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

  • The Progressive Agriculture Safety Day program’s Classroom-based Delivery Mode was unveiled, allowing youth to participate in the Program without ever needing to leave the classroom setting.

  • The Progressive Agriculture Safety Day program reached its two-millionth individual.

  • The Progressive Agriculture Safety Day program unveiled the PAF Safety Zone. This new delivery mode allows youth health and safety messages to reach bigger audiences at events like farm shows, conferences, and conventions. Educational stations are broken down into a miniature version of the traditional community-based delivery mode and are in a designated area within the larger event.
