2008 Projected Safety Days Information

Note: Due to unforeseen circumstances that can affect community events, some of the following numbers will change periodically.

  • 380 Progressive Agriculture Safety Days™ are planned in 35 states, 6 Canadian provinces, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and American Samoa.
  • These safety days could reach 65,000 participants with the help of 20,000 adult and older teen volunteers.
  • 420 coordinators trained at one of the following:
    • 16 training sessions in the U.S.
    • 3 training session in Canada
    • 1 training via web and satellite television (for experienced coordinators only)
  • 2008 is the:
    • 14th year of the program in the United States
    • 7th year in Canada
    • 4th year in the U.S. Virgin Islands
    • 3rd year in American Samoa

2007 Safety Days Information

  • 350 Progressive Agriculture Safety Days held in 35 states, 5 Canadian Provinces, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and American Samoa
  • 60,249 participants
  • Age of participants
    • 83% were ages 8 to 13
    • 14% were younger than 8
    • 3% were teens or adults
  • Special audiences
    • 0.5% were migrant children
    • 1.3% were Anabaptist (Amish, Hutterite, Mennonites, etc.)
  • 73% of the safety days were held as school events, with the other 27% being held for the entire community
  • Local support:
    • 16,012 volunteers worked 136,685 hours
    • 5,821 individuals, businesses or organizations donated $229,452 plus another $319,785 in in-kind contributions
